... not for Boston, no...
It's Bert in a Vancouver Canucks uniform, for crying out loud!

Roughly one week to go before the NHL hockey season starts!
It is something that some, at least, have been looking forward to since October 2004!
What do you most look forward to this season? How your favorite team survived the salary cap? How all the rookies will do? Countdown to the playoffs? Or maybe something completely different?
Me... I'm looking forward to the NEXT lock-out actually...
Seriously - with parity running rampant in the league, rooting for your favorite team is like devotedly praying to hit the jackpot when playing the lottery - so... what I do is, I observe with mild scrutiny my LEAST favorite team - and watch them trip all over themselves and fumble the puck with great... ah... "un-enthusiasm"?
Yeah - that's it - unenthusiasm describes it to a T!

Now... I would like to rediscover the boy in me who just loved the game - and rooted for his team all the way to the Stanley Cup Finals twice in three years (a clue as to what my team is - although that was not exactly yesterday either...).
Even better yet - I'd like to rediscover the child in me who would have liked to jump all the NHL mascots in a fake mélée - like Paul Buisson got to do (fringe benefits of his job - he used to host a half-hour thingie interviewing NHLers on RDS, an affiliate of TSN, the Canadian ESPN of sorts...).
But really... there's more to do in life - as we all found out during the lock-out!
(Paul Buisson, incidentally, hailed from a place I know well - Laval, Qc. - a heartbeat away from Montréal... where RDS is headquarted... and where he died prematurely this past summer. He wasn't even 40.)

October, thus, hockey will be back - as Football will be in full swing... Basketball starting a new season as well (wait 'til the fans tick off the players again - LOL)... and of course BASEBALL's POST-SEASON (the mantra this year: ''repeat the reversing of the curse'' YEAH!).
Many such thrills wear off in their effect very fast though - but it is exciting to have more than one thing to look forward to when you catch the news - world events; the state of affairs abroad in particular; baseball post-season; the start of the seasons for all 3 other major sports in North America (a convergence that makes for some fun, I agree - any given night, the same city can have both a winner and a loser... unless that city is Buffalo - lol) - and if the news still get trite, somehow, well there's plenty more to watch on cable tv! And, of course, offline life has plenty more to keep us busy as well - nothing cleans itself and home improvement as self-improvement is not gained without exertion!
But, back to hockey specifically...
All I'm saying is... watching three periods of the same drama I've watched countless times before -with different players that I cared more about- is time I can use more intelligently... more productively!
I'll still keep an eye on the final scores and highlights of some games - but it just isn't the same thing anymore for this fan here...!
Something has changed...!
Business changed the sport...?
This fan has changed with the years too...

Luciano,
I hope that the boy in you will always stay alive, and show himself sometimes! ;)
No matter how much you the fan has changed over the years, never let go of the boy inside you.
Let yourself relax and let go when your favorite teams play. You need to let yourself have fun! ;)
Have A Great Day (\ô/)
