And Now, Some Luminous Findings, Courtesy of That Luminous Search Toolbar Thingie...

As "advertised" here yesterday, one can find such wondrous and truly luminous things online - if one searches for them with a dependable, reliable search engine that is! I admit, though, that as far as "searching for Light" goes, it is not quite the thing indeed - I was saying that tongue firmly in cheek on yesterday's post! Everybody got that, I am sure...

Above, you see just one of many interesting findings when one searches the word "luminous" (no, the results are *not* all about me! *lol*)
The picture comes from Poland, around a place called Tempelberg, where Templar Knights were reputedly "hanging out" circa the 1400s. The "Luminous Man" on the picture is apparently not a hoax, not the fruits of some photoshop tempering, but a genuine apparition! Hmm... Add to that several other anecdotes about the Tempelberg area found here, and it all begins to sound very, very real indeed. Besides, "Tempelberg" already sounds much more compelling than "Bilderberg" ever did to me!

But - gee! I thought I'd found the perfect "luminous man" picture (obviously based upon the Vitruvian Man by Leonardo...) which I represent to you, in "slider" form, below...

And now here comes along another one, an alleged "real-life" version too...!
However, the findings are not just curious photos - far from it, my friends! A travel site invites us to visit the spectacular natural wonder of Luminous Lagoon, one of the best to be found in Jamaica. (And to) take a ride on one of the pontoons to experience the beauty of this iridescent lagoon where the water becomes luminous when agitated...! Wow - as if the irony of a world-famous reggae singer named Luciano hailing from Jamaica wasn't enough for me... Now this! I guess I should stop by the Luminous Lagoon myself, one day!

Imagine - my own lagoon!
I never thought of owning one - but if I may, if only in name only, why not, hmm?
An "iridiscent lagoon" with "glistening waters" sounds mighty cool and refreshing to me in these days of heatwaves and climatic changes...!
"See Nature at its best" they say...
I would agree with that statement!
A luminous statement it must be, indeed!

In other luminous findings, I must make mention of sad news - once again.
Lorraine Hunt Lieberson, Luminous Mezzo, Dies at 52 (New York Times) - The mezzo-soprano Lorraine Hunt Lieberson, who won near universal praise from critics and audiences for her courageous, insightful and deeply affecting performances, has died at the age of 52 (...)
Next to that, somehow, www.wondir.com invites us to "list 5 examples of luminous objects and five examples of illuminated objects"
Hmm... okaaaay...
And next to that, "The Luminous Web" is reviewed by a fellow blogger: The Nuts! - http://danutz.blogspot.com to be specific! "The Luminous Web (Essays on Science and Religion)" is a book written by Barbara Brown Taylor that teaches us, among other things, that "most people are either left brain types or right brain types. Early in our process of education we split off those people that are geared for logical thinking and those that are more geared to write the great American novel."
Hmm... okaaaaaay...
And here I thought that Mrs. Taylor was writing about online luminescence - and that, maybe, she'd be mentioning me in passing too! *LOL*
She does make use of my favorite quote from good old Albert (“Science without religion is lame; religion without science is blind.” – Albert Einstein) and adds another I don't mind but don't care so much for either...
“Religion declined not because it was refuted, but because it became irrelevant, dull, oppressive, insipid. When faith is completely replaced by creed, worship by discipline, love by habit; when the crisis of today is ignored because of the splendor of the past; when faith becomes an heirloom rather than a living fountain; when religion speaks only in the name of authority rather than with the voice of compassion, its message becomes meaningless.” - Rabbi Abraham Heschel (Jewish Theologian 1907 –1972)
What about science, when it becomes so rigid it will not budge, even faced with new tangible results or evidence? What about our political leaders, so attached to the "old ways" and their precious "system" that they loathe change - and might kill so that things remain the same; even their commander-in-chief if need be (JFK, anyone?)
Really, Rabbi Abe, right now, with "the crisis of today", thy words about being "the voice of compassion" reverberate not so true to a lot of ears either...
But I digress...
One or two final blogger notes - another blogger seems obsessed with the word "luminous" too, only not in the same way... Patty, on allisnotluminous.blogspot.com, takes the time to actually lament that, in his latest novel ("Seeing"), Nobel Prize laureate and Portuguese author José Saramago apparently makes use of the word three times, three times, three times...!!! Hmm - then she blames translator Margaret Jull Costa for it. Gee - "luminous" is a great word! In a book that probably goes up to 250 pages, three instances of that word are actually not enough! What will now be suggested to a Nobel Prize winner - that he gets himself a thesaurus? Substituting "brilliant" to "luminous" would be too commonplace. Penning "incandescent" instead would be perceived as somewhat haughty. "Luminous" is just right! ;)
However, it is right and true to state that "all is not luminous" out there - in fact, out in the real world, MOST EVERYTHING is NOT luminous!
True luminous bodies can be found in the starry ways as well as here:
that time "when Jesus held a summit conference with two other luminous bodies, Moses and his shadowy double, Elijah." Such luminous bodies make otherwise commoner mouthpieces such as Moby (singer of "we are all made of stars") carriers of the Truth! "Our physical body is on loan from nature, whom we must repay at the end of our days." (...)
Too true - even if it comes from "Gagdad Bob, the Most Obnoxious Man In AmeriKKKa"!
On his own blog, Gagdad Bob preaches comically and sardonically about what HE believes in... Luminous moi and him can only agree on this: "Thou owest nature a death." More appropriately speaking, thou owest God thy very Life! And said life is really that of one's soul which is eternal; not that of the body which is temporal and indeed, in that case, can be perceived as "on loan".
When you do die, Gagdad Bob, you will find out if you are "recycled" into another loaned wrapper - or if you move on to the next level!
As for me, when it is my turn and my time...
I want to move on.
I got to move on - move on - move on! ;)
*LOL* Okay, I was quoting from a Dolores O'Riordan/Cranberries song there!

Searching For Light...?

Crave Online: Funny Videos, Sexy Videos, Music Videos, Movie Trailers, and More!

I know, I know - I promised myself and the few, the proud, the illuminated (as opposed to the illuminati - nuance...!) the faithful L.O.V.'s who congregate to this blog, ah, every so often, at least? 'Tis not quantity but the quality of each visit that counts! Once a week is fine, as long as you read 7 posts in a row, partake of the sidebar features, listen to the music, click on a few links (preferably the ones on the Google Adsense bar - at the bottom of the blog! Thank you!) and leave a comment...? Anyway... to those faithful folks, I had promised indeed to give more substantial word counts - and less gizmos!
The sidebar has enough of those already, correct?
But... I found this new site and it had this perfect SHORT commercial that you just saw, a commercial about... LIGHT! Well, a cyber version of it anyway... PERFECT for the Luminous Blog! I just had to post it here today! Hey - we're on a Friday and I usually have videos on here every two Fridays anyway!

Surely you will forgive the minor overstepping of my own boundaries... on my own blog?!? Hmm?!? *LOL*

Luminous Spotlight On...

Has been a wee while since I've done this, methinks! Spotlighting one of the best little posts published on any one of my other blogs, that are a vital and integral part of the TLB Prime network - a.k.a. the luminous network! Today I thought this would be the ideal solution - as also healthy alternative to another "inbox indiscretion" there...! We move our attention hence towards the ludicrous blog (!) where the title might surely mislead you - as I had planned it to! That particular and most entertaining of my creations (no coincidence it is the third most updated) focuses on the rampant craziness in this world we live in - and there sure is no shortage of that, you will agree! It has a different approach and feel (as well as look, evidently, because of its different template!) than the "lunacy blog" for instance! Note though that the ludicrous blog is best viewed with Mozilla Firefox, while the Luminous Blog remains at its very best when viewed with Internet Explorer...! Despite all of these minor technical hassles, I hope that you will enjoy this installment of the "Luminous Spotlight"... And not think that it's too much of a redundant good thing! *lol*

When you can't even properly spell out a common name, you know there's something wrong in your gene pool...
So, naturally (or unnaturally, as it is, really) you will want to fix things... Artificially. Hey - there's "art" in artificial! Sure...
What could go better together though than vain people and plastic surgery? The two go hand in hand as... a horse and carriage... love and marriage... and divorce and re-marriage! *LOL* Deano must be tossing and turning in his grave - then again, maybe he's not... But I digress...

From that awful "catwoman" (the real life one - who had so much plastic surgery work done over the years, all in the hopes of LOOKING LIKE A FELINE!) to these Gennifer Flowers (Jee... I can't spell either when I look at pictures of her... BEFORE... and especially AFTER! YIKES!!!) the deal seems that it is estimated to be "better" and preferable to look like a PLASTIC FREAK than to look old, aging gracefully by the Grace of God and simply showing the passing of time and hopefully the evidence of acquired wisdom with the years... Alas, the truth is that these vain people have not acquired any wisdom at all with the years - only more foolishness! As in that foolish idea that "a little nip and tuck here and there" every decade or so will win the battle against NATURE... Why not hope against hope that your very evidently queer plastic surgeon and esthetician will make you immortal while they're at it? We know already that the breast implants will remain when everything else turns to dust - why not plastify the rest now, eh? So that the future generations can see for themselves how freakish you looked in your older days, trying to beat back the aging process... A process that is all-natural and in the proper order of Things too.

It is the most pathetic thing I have ever seen! And I was unfortunate enough to see a lot of pathetic things over the years... I was also unfortunate enough to catch the E.T. report on Genni's latest "tiny bit of nip and tuck" - and it was downright traumatizing! YEOWTCH! She was horribly puffed up after that bit of "routine surgery" as it was said to be for her so obviously gay doctor - I thought it might be her alleged acting talent that she was about to put on display for E.T. viewers there, and this was really not surgery but some Star Trek make-up session or, at best, prepping up for a horror film!
For those of you still scratching their heads and going "who in blue blazes is Gennifer Flowers again?" - she used to be the most elegant and best-looking of the infamous "Bill Clinton women" - but now... Sheesh! Bill would run the other way screaming! Or... he would not! But that is not important right now... Genni seems to think that Billy boy is not good enough for her anymore either - she candidly stated that "he's aged. He needs a little job done on the neck... the nose... the eyes..."
Sheesh - the Body Snatchers have landed and want to transform every single one of us into their weird kind - the plastic outlandishness prone kind! Run - run while you can! You're next! You're next!!!

The highest reaches of the absurd are reached when Genni here announces that she is going under the knife again because she wants to be confident when she goes out there to "find (her) soul mate"! Even worse, she wants to help others (superficial people like her, I'm sure) find their own soulmates by creating her very own website for dating and more... Will she match patients and plastic surgeons too? Time will tell... but wait, TIME is an enemy! There's always more nipping and tucking to do - so that all will have the typical fairy tale ending - right? Only this one will come in a plastic wrapping.
Life isn't a movie though - that simple truth seems to be eluding Genni's grasp as she continues to chase the dream to "look young"... forevermore? Dream on, girl! She was moving, I must admit (or was it her acting talent finally showing through?) when she stated, upon entering the limo for her ride to the umpteenth "nip and tuck session" of her life, that she feared only to go to sleep on the operating table - and not to wake. Why, pray tell? Death will solutionize your problem with aging, darling! And one less superficial person on the planet will hardly be noticeable at all - there are zillions like you now! Maybe it is just me - but I see no point in fearing the reaper. Hasn't anybody learned the lesson taught so succinctly by the Blue Oyster Club yet?!? (No, wise guy; not the song about Gojira!)

Oh - as for the New York catwoman (aka socialite Jocelyne Wildenstein - she bears her name well) she will settle for Sylvester, Garfield or even Heathcliff, but only if they have extensive surgery done first...

inbox indiscretions # 22...

Because we spill not only milk
Knocking it over with an elbow
When we reach to wipe a small face
But also spill seed on soil we thought was fertile but isn't,
And also spill whole lives, and only later see in fading light
How much is gone and we hadn't intended it
Because we tear not only cloth
Thinking to find a true edge and instead making only a hole
But also tear friendships when we grow
And whole mountainsides because we are so many
And we want to live right where black oaks lived,
Once very quietly and still
Because we forget not only what we are doing in the kitchen
And have to go back to the room we were in before,
Remember why it was we left
But also forget entire lexicons of joy
And how we lost ourselves for hours
Yet all that time were clearly found and held
And also forget the hungry not at our table
Because we weep not only at jade plants caught in freeze
And precious papers left in rain
But also at legs that no longer walk
Or never did, although from the outside they look like most others
And also weep at words said once as though
They might be rearranged but which
Once loose, refuse to return and we are helpless
Because we are imperfect and love so
Deeply we will never have enough days,
We need the gift of starting over, beginning
Again: just this constant good, this
Saving hope.

Have A Lavish Lughnasadh / August Eve / Lammas Eve / Lady Day Eve / Feast of Bread...

Isn't it something that, a mere 24 hours after I lambaste agnostics again, a proliferation of pagan feasts, a procession of them, a veritable flurry of those comes our way...! Three "eves", one celebration of starch (nutritious!) and a "lugh" - all on the same day! Wow... What would Saints Pistis, Elpis, and Agape (Faith, Hope, and Charity), St. Peter Julian Eymard, St. Ethelwold of Winchester, St. Almedha (aka Aled), St. Alphonse Liguori, and the Holy Macabees think of this - since they are all celebrated on this day as well...!?
There is enough there to keep everyone happy today, I think...
Many paths... ONE GOD.
But surely one path is safer than others are... hmm? ;)
Food for thought right there...!

On another front, a triumverate of nations have something in common on this calendar date as well; Switzerland's National Day (the founding of the Swiss Confederation was officially constituated on an August 1st, waaaaaaaaaaay back in 1291) and then there is Benin's Independence Day also to celebrate - plus, along the same lines, it is a remembrance of the fateful Emancipation Day for Trinidad and Tobago today!
Wow - Emancipation Day... Otherwise known, in most cases, as Day One of sin, more sin and letting yourself go...!!!
Worthy of lavish celebrations INDEED. Right.

Of real significance to me is the fact that today is the 213th day of the year 2006 - so far, a VERY lousy year... And today, back in the lousy year of 1914, WORLD WAR I broke out! "The Great War" it was known as - no likeness of it had ever been seen before it; but it would be topped within 25 years... The next one will be a doozy too...

2006 has been one HELL of a year so far - I lost, so far, "my bestest friend in the whole wide world"... A whole lot of cash... Now I learn that cable will yank away from me my lone guilty pleasure (televised wrestling)... I lost what I call "my fiscal innocence" (...) - and NO - this is no admission of tax cheating! Just my luminous way to hint that, starting with NEXT income tax season, the tax man will REALLY tear into me now! Lost more, but that would be telling...
It is a miracle I haven't lost the will to live...!
Thank God for small and medium-size miracles - INDEED.

...

Hey there - nescient numbskulls and other agnostic aberrations out there! Maybe the following allegory can help...

If not, maybe this more direct as practical approach will be more effective with you...

And if neither works - then I call for divine intervention on your behalf!
It is aaaaaaaaall for your own good! Trust me on that!

As for the rest of the regular readership of the luminous blog... aka TLB Prime... Carry on as usual! :)
Blessings!
