sauve qui peut - c'est yom kippur
At sundown, it will be Yom Kippur - the Judaic Day of Atonement for the sins of the past year... and, surely, there were many! According to Judaism 101, "Yom Kippur is probably the most important holiday of the Jewish year. Many Jews who do not observe any other Jewish custom will refrain from work, fast and/or attend synagogue services on this day. Yom Kippur occurs on the 10th day of Tishri. The holiday is instituted at Leviticus 23:26 et seq." ~~~ Ok... cool. Sort of like the Mexican siesta, eh? A Jewish custom that encourages to refrain from work produces, in effect, the same results - though the original intention could not be more different! Mexicans are not into fasting anyway - I think...
Further more, it is said that it is a day set aside to "afflict the soul" - aye, so many of us, of all walks of life, creeds and faiths apparently like to torture ourselves! Let's keep it going now - self-defeating 101! *lol*
Question... if at sundown it is atonement time - does that mean that at sunrise it was a gunfight at the OK Corral type of thing that happened? That would explain why the atonement for the sins is so needed and all... *lol*

Aye - as with sporting events (when they do not go the way you would have wanted them to, for your team) we can always repeat the mantra "wait 'til next year"... *lol*
I am sure there are millions of worse sinners than you, raskinner! As they say "quand on se compare, on se console"!
