Saturday Sports on TLB

Today, in Sports History...!
December 3, 1997 Golden State Warrior guard Latrell Sprewell got his ludicrous four-year, $32 million contract terminated for attacking his coach P. J. Carlesimo in the locker-room! Gee... couldn't he have taken out the anguish on the referees instead?
December 3, 1995 84th Davis Cup: USA beats Russia in Moscow (3-2 - call it the miracle on asphalt...?!? And yes; you may ice this one...)
December 3, 1995 Beth Daniels/Davis Love III win LPGA J C Penney Golf Classic (co-winners Bette Davis could have been proud of!)
December 3, 1995 Jack Russell takes 11 catches in Test Cricket vs. South Africa, a record... (No Jack Daniels involved here... no steroids either!)
December 3, 1991 Hulk Hogan defeats Undertaker to become a 4th time WWF champion (ok, hardly a true sports result here - but a fine opportunity to reestablish the fact that the ONLY true wrestling legend is... Ric Flair!) :)
December 3, 1990 NL batting champ Willie McGee signs as a free agent with San Francisco Giants (setting the example for Barry Bonds - have career years elsewhere, sign with San Fran for the big bucks... and then, disappoint!)
December 3, 1989 Pat Bradley/Bill Glasson win LPGA J C Penney Golf Classic (Bradley & Glasson - sounds like a law firm... or two pettifoggers!)
December 3, 1988 54th Heisman Trophy Award: Barry Sanders, Oklahoma State (RB)
December 3, 1983 49th Heisman Trophy Award: Mike Rozier, Nebraska (RB) (Who cares who else won this trophy in-between - right?)
December 3, 1982 New Jersey Devils 1st hat trick (Steve Tambellini - "who?", you ask? Exactly.) New Jersey was playing HARTFORD, to boot...! Who remembers Hartford ever was in the NHL...? Whalers lost that game too - 5-4 was the final score.
December 3, 1982 Tommy Hearns wins WBC Welterweight title in decision over Benitez (no, Tommy was not fighting some "social disease"...)
December 3, 1981 Beth Daniels/Tom Kite wins LPGA J C Penney Golf Classic (Ahh... the Kite and the... no, let's not go there...)
December 3, 1979 45th Heisman Trophy Award: Charles White, Southern California (RB) And, contrary to rumors (chiefly spread by DC Comics writers and editors - a desperate lot at the time) Charles is NOT related to the Daily Planet's editor-in-chief Perry White... not even on Earth-2!
December 3, 1968 Pitcher's mound drops from 15" to 10" and strike zone reduced from knees to shoulders to top of knees to armpits, to help hitters (yeah - about time too - no-hitters are such boring games to watch; who would want to pay to see that?!?).
December 3, 1967 Derek Clayton runs world record marathon (2:09:36.4). Again - DC will try to have people believe Derek is truly The Flash...!
December 3, 1961 Anton Geesink becomes 1st not-Japanese judo world champion (Bruce Lee would have kicked his a$$ though... *lol*).
December 3, 1961 George Blanda of Houston Oilers kicks 55-yard field goal (pretty good for a George - right, Dubya?)
December 3, 1957 23rd Heisman Trophy Award: John Crow, Texas A&M (HB) (This likely inspired *Smallville* unimaginative scribes to call their fictitious town's college football team the Crows... sure would be better than paying "homage" to bands such as Counting Crows, the Black Crowes or, worse still... that Sheryl Crow broad! *lol*)
December 3, 1956 Wilt Chamberlain's 1st collegiate basketball game (scores 52). (He'll do better, eventually - he's a good kid...)
December 3, 1950 Cleveland Browns last NFL team with no-pass game (beat Philadelphia 13-7). (The Browns miss the no-pass game...)
December 3, 1950 Cleveland Browns' Horace Gillom sets club record with 12 punts. ("I'm just doing my job" he said... True... he was the punter.)
December 3, 1933 Connie Mack sells Mickey Cochrane to Det Tigers for $100,000. (And they said slavery was abolished... sheesh.)
December 3, 1933 Joe Lilliard QBs Chicago Cardinals; last NFL black until 1946. (No such thing as a black cardinal though... ok, there's no white cardinals either... must be why the team unraveled - and, today, we have the Chicago BEARS!)
December 3, 1932 20th CFL Grey Cup: Hamilton Tigers defeats Regina Roughriders, 25-6 (shades of Lions' wins over Christians in Roman coliseums... ok, not funny...)
And, finally, saving the best for last...
December 3, 1929 Boston Bruins begin then NHL record 14-game winning streak...
Mayhaps, tonight, they will be winning a second in a row... a modest streak is what the present-day team needs!
Blessings! ;)

Comments:

I have a knack to make fun of sports legends... so what... some fans might want to sue me over that! *lol*

Let them try!

As for the video - yeah - it is great!

Great song!
Great artist!
Jaci Velasquez - a name to remember!

I invited my kins from certain wasteland-like parts of Canada to check this out - they knew about TLB but now was the time to really check it out, with this great music to complement the experience! Mainly because the video is Jaci's - I have a second-cousin (second-rate too yeah) who actually looks like Jaci.. but has none of Jaci's qualities! Not the singing ability - that is not what I am talking about! The second-cuz does not have Jaci's Faith... Jaci's sweetness... Jaci's grace! This second-cuz is not even Second Cup employee material!
Enough said...

So... I sent them the link to TLB - with my opinion!

That caused a stir - I wonder why!

They can say and think the WORST about me - and I cannot state the TRUTH about them?!?

And the truth is - appearances are deceiving! Jaci's lookalike (my own relative - but barely really) looks like Jaci - but she is NOTHING like her...!!!

Why couldn't I be related to Jaci instead... huh? *lol*

Well, of course, I am - she is my sister in Christ! :)

And she's yours too!
