On criticism...
Public figures of every sort are subjected to all manners of cheap shots and scornful so-called "comments" that baffle any claims of "civilized assessments" from the part of those who routinely make them.
I remember not believing my eyes when I saw the myspace.com page of one group The Click Five - which can be briefly heard on the videocodezone playlist playing presently here (well, until Friday it will at any rate!).
They have their fans - but they also have the most debasing and crudest critics this side of Dixie! It is the lot of every artist, I suppose - some will appreciate what you do; others will think it is nothing but dreck.
Having sort of an artistic nature myself, I have always found it easy to put myself into that situation - even before getting a bit of a taste of it as I recently did. And I find myself thinking that, beyond the annoyance factor, this sort of thing has to be placed into the proper perspective. For, what does it matter in the Grand Scheme of Things? What will it matter years from now - a mere few months from now even (especially if we are all dead in the flames of a senseless worldwide conflict that stemmed out of... danish cartoons!) hmm?
None of our works mean squat in the face of eternity - that goes doubly at least for our opinions. The world certainly is ruled by egos and pettyness - but we are all, each and everyone of us, but gnats in the vastness of the cosmos.
The soulless ones might think otherwise, but even they have souls and they better hope that such pettyness does not taint that lone eternal aspect of their petty selves.
When I talk of soulless ones, I cannot help but to think of politicians for some obscure reason surely easily explainable...
Today's link is nothing less than famed Canadian comedian Rick Mercer's very own blog - and you will find there the awful truth about each and every new Canadian minister who got nominated recently by the new Prime Minister elect! Canada is worse off than EVER. No longer can they boast to be not as off-kilter as the U.S. administration! That must be another sign of the apocalypse again...

Yeah - can you believe this collection of ministers?!?
The new Conservative Cabinet has got to be the most consistent of all cabinets ever put together in that EVERY SINGLE LEADING CANDIDATE FOR A PARTICULAR MINISTRY IS THE WORST CANDIDATE FOR THE JOB!
A Foreign Affairs Minister who legitimizes his party's decision NOT to offer condolences to the Palestinians when Yasser Arafat died "by sending out a column by David Frum that speculated that Yasser died of AIDS."
A Health Minister who publicly states that he does support the idea of private health care... That bodes well for the public healthcare system under his tour of duty!
A "Minister of State" who is to handle multiculturalism after having declared that, in his estimation, “Nelson Mandela is a terrorist.”
A Minister of Justice who believes in using the notwithstanding clause to override any number of minority rights...
It is not just the Quebec separatists that share some traits with the Nazis, you see...
A Family Guy-In-The-Flesh Minister of Citizenship and IMMIGRATION who has declared (quite recently too) that “Immigrants are choking welfare systems, contributing to high unemployment, and many cannot read.”
An old-style cowboy of a Minister of State - focusing on Youth Justice this time - whose opinion is “Let's lower the age to ten." as far as the age at which one should be tried as an adult goes!
The Minister responsible for the Status of Women (a certain David SWEET) for his part has this to say about the ladies...
“There's a particular reason why Jesus called men only. It's not that women aren't co-participators. It's because Jesus knew women would naturally follow. Men, on the other hand, had to be called.”
The Minister of Indian Affairs and Northern Development, for his part, feels like he's the man for the job for a very simple reason; “You can’t scalp me because I haven’t got much hair on top of my head.”
NOW the Great White North will REALLY get developed... oh yeah!
And so on, and so forth...!
Canada is really, truly and completely worse off now than it was under the terrible Paul Martin administration!
Things sure are going the opposite way of whatever "improving" could possibly have been (with the poor selection that was available at the polls on election day, that is...!)
Blessings!

And we will have to invoke God's Blessings a lot too!
Heaven help us - with the leaders that we've elected, we've nowhere else to turn but to Heaven now!
