A sad anniversary...

Not to quote an Alan Moore mimicking exercise, but sometimes I really do wish we were back in 1963! Or 1964... Or '65. Or the best: 1969!
But I digress already, straying from the somber topic of this post already, so early into it...
In 1963 today, as aptly reported (for once) by the ah, twisted folks at "Twisted History", "C&W legend Patsy Cline & 4 others (were) killed when (their) small plane slams into (a) mountainside near Camden, Tennessee."
So many celebrities have died at the peek of their careers and in their prime - and those were totally preventable deaths too.
From Patsy Cline to Aaliyah most recently - along with Roberto Clemente, Buddy Holly, "The Big Bopper" (Jiles Perry Richardson) and Richie Valens... and who can forget JFK Jr.
Statistically speaking (hey, shades of "Statistics Sundays" - a TLB Prime tradition still peeking its nose here from time to time!) it is quite rare to die in a plane crash, yes. One has to be tremendously unlucky to wind up as Buddy Holly did here.
In fact, statistics seem to show that DONKEYS kill more people annually than plane crashes do! (Once more, ammunition for debates between Republicans and Democrats!)
Nevertheless, small planes crashing like that left and right should be more than preventable. Questionable pilots should not be allowed to take off without adequate back-up onboard. And no take-offs at all should be allowed when the weather is a question mark... or the small plane is overloaded!
Call this... Luminous Safety Measures!

Comments:
Luce,

That truely is very sad news. It is a real tragedy to lose Patsy Cline at all let alone in such a horrible accident.

Thank you for letting us know about what happened to Patsy Cline.

I agree with you about the pilots and them needing backup, as well as not taking off when it is not safe to do so.

God Bless You Luce (\ô/)
((Warm Hugs))
Countess

Aaliyah's accidental death is eerier, for it came right after she had started playing the part of Anne Rice's Queen of the Damned...
