Happy Celebration of the Sacrifice Made For Our Redemption... and the Promise of the Resurrection!
No Bunnies Need Apply!
It would be interesting to know if this is one of the very few (and perhaps meaningful?) times that Good Friday coincided with the date of the sinking of the Titanic... The date has coincided with a lot of meaningful items of interest before, so much is for sure;
73 A.D. - According to Jewish historian Josephus, 967 Jewish zealots committed mass suicide within the fortress of Masada on this last night before the walls were breached by the attacking Roman Tenth Legion. (Two women and five children survived by hiding in a cistern, and were later released unharmed by the Romans.)
1796 - Death of Joseph Swain, 35, author of the hymn, "O Thou in Whose Presence My Soul Takes Delight."
1906 - The Azusa Street Revival -- proto-mission out of which the modern Pentecostal movement spread world-wide -- officially began when the services led by black evangelist William J. Seymour, 36, moved into the building at 312 Azusa Street in Los Angeles.
1940 - English Bible expositor Arthur W. Pink wrote in a letter: 'Nothing is too great and nothing is too small to commit into the hands of the Lord.'
Amen to that, Arthur! And I like the coincidence that I am the exact same age as Mr. Seymour was, back in 1906 - exactly 100 years ago hence.

I had to pause watching the film "Titanic" (for the umpteenth time) -on the exact moment when Leonardo Di Caprio freezes to death and sinks into the dark icy waters of the north (what better time to freeze the image?)- and add here a little something I was thinking of, earlier this week...
For, earlier this week, ABC broadcast a "world premiere" (again) - this all-new version of The Ten Commandments that they felt the world had been waiting for.
Speaking of coincidences (as I spoke of in this post) - there were quite a few of them in this ABC special presentation/epic mini-series... And then again, in one specific case, maybe IT WAS NO COINCIDENCE AT ALL EITHER...
It was a coincidence that my saintly dad's lookalike, Omar Sharif, had a bit part in this thing (if one blunk an eye though, one would miss it altogether, I am afraid!)
It was NO coincidence though that the thespian handpicked to portray Moses was one heck of a lookalike of... JESUS, actually!
I guess this is what "political correctness" and "pleasing everybody" have gotten us to: just so that both Jewish and Christians folks alike get something out of it, a little amalgam of the sorts was arranged... and THAT TRULY WAS NO COINCIDENCE AT ALL!
Jehovah's Witnesses rank Moses AHEAD of Jesus (and we know how Muslims rank Jesus too). Thus, ABC is going with the majority there and endorsing Moses' story... Passover over the Christian Easter (and, please, no mention of the pagan Eostre now... IF you do comment... anyone... ok?)
Still, Christians get a consolation prize in that the actor looks like Jesus, all the way down to the hairstyle! (Mimicking Charlton Heston, in 2006, would have been a tad ridiculous, I realize...)
At least they did not go as far as the NBC geniuses behind (their version of) NOAH'S ARK... Those guys had pushed it so far as to actually CHANGE PARTS OF THE STORY! Lot had survived the Great Flood (I guess they figured "hey, he survived one cataclysm - why not two?" - right), and Lot, along with other folks, went their merry way in tiny lifeboats of fortune... and an attempt had even been made by the others to actually take over the ark! Makes for great adventure storytelling, but... IT IS NOT WHAT IS RELATED IN THE HOLY BOOK!
Had ABC been as daring, we might have seen MOSES die on the Cross at the end of THEIR version of The Ten Commandments... and then, maybe, I would espouse the Witnesses' stand (for example).
NOT.
