Statistic Sunday - A Single Alarming One Will Do

That is simply unacceptable.
For, if we turn a blind eye to this,
effectively treating it as if it were
"nothing" in the process,
we cease to be human then.

To show that you do care
To show that you are human

The day that the right thing is prioritized - lives, not war; satiating the hungry instead of the need for oil - this planet will be like unto Paradise. Until then, they will continue electing Dubyas.

Every person is this administration should be ashamed. Bush is spending billions on this war and you are voting him funds to continue. Just think how many hungry people this would support not only in other countries but right here in the United States. Stop the war and feed the hungry.

My opinion: nobody should live in poverty and starve of hunger and/or diseases that can be provided by vaccinations and more research for cures. If certain countries should stop the wars they're participating in,the money that now is used for weapons and flying people and material to war-zones(I'm talking of billions and billions of dollars) could be used for programs to end hunger, poverty and diseases worldwide.

If their is a chance to end hunger & poverty then what is the hold up with Australia, the United States,Canada,Japan,New Zealand & Switzerland? This is not an issue people need to linger on, to take some time to think about. Your not making a decision on what type of car to buy or whether or not to join a gym, this is human life. Just do it. A big change needs to happen period. The cost of living is already ridiculous especially in California, and it's not stopping. More poverty, more people/families going hungry. I was astounded recently when Barrack Obama appeared on the Tyra Banks show and said the war is costing 275 billion(i think it was billion he said)dollars a day. If 195 billion a year is what it would take to end the hunger and poverty, then this definitely would have covered that and then some.

The Petition's Title:
We ask only for what has been promised.

Target:
President Bush, 100 Senators, and House Leaders

Sponsored by:
Michelle Brown, on behalf of United Nations

We respectfully ask our government to help stop the tens of thousands of preventable deaths that occur every day from hunger and poverty-related diseases.

Specifically, we ask our country to honor the agreement it made and signed at the 2002 Monterrey Conference and again at the 2002 Johannesburg Summit to make concrete efforts towards giving 0.7% of our national income in aid to poor countries.

The United Nations estimates that when all 22 countries that signed the agreement meet the 0.7% goal, the resulting $195 billion each year will be enough to effectively end hunger and extreme poverty in the world.

We commend the countries that have already reached the 0.7% goal: Denmark, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, and Sweden.

We also commend the countries that have set up a schedule to meet the 0.7% goal and encourage them in their efforts to reach it as soon as possible: Austria, Belgium, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Portugal, Spain, and the United Kingdom.

We respectfully ask the six remaining countries to honor their agreement and set up a schedule to reach the 0.7% goal: Australia, Canada, Japan, New Zealand, Switzerland, and the United States.

Thank you.
