He Would Have Been One Year Older - Today
He would have been 74 today.
João Jacinto Borges Pimentel
who, during his passage
on this earth,
worked from an early age
first on his father's land
as an agriculturer,
then as he turned 25
he chose to go off on his own
and build his own life
independently
where, rumor was,
life was to be more abundant:
North America.
From that point on,
he married, had a son,
worked regularly,
maintained a strict
and disciplined order
in his affairs,
remarquably never
indebting himself
and never struggling
in any way,
often laughing in the face
of those who thought
he was in the slightest
form of financial trouble.
Only bad luck
in the form of health problems
would complicate his life
- a life that could have easily
should have normally
reached 75 years,
80 years, 90 years...
Easily.
Today, he would have been 74.
Instead, he has become ageless now
he is, effectively, timeless
since March of 2006 -
when he ascended
up to the Heavens Above.
In his living years,
he wasn't all that keen
on celebrating his birthday...
I take after him in that regard too.
Today, though,
I still have to say...
Happy Birthday, Dad
